The Journey of Shunya Breathe™ Method
Dr. Sadhna Upadhya first learned the roots of what would later become the Shunya Breathe™ Method in 2017, while training for her yoga certification under her guru. At that time, she was introduced to a sequence of advanced techniques, carefully woven together to support overall well-being. She was encouraged to practice them regularly, and while she continued to explore them over the years, it wasn’t until after the global pandemic that these practices became a cornerstone of her life.
Like many, she was navigating a period of profound personal transition emotionally, physically, and mentally. In that moment of need, she returned to the breathwork teachings she had received. By practicing consistently, she discovered not only resilience and clarity, but also a deeper understanding of how breath could anchor the body, soothe the mind, and nurture the spirit.
Through her journey, Dr. Sadhna also noticed a common challenge: many people explore breathwork without fully understanding its effects. Each technique activates different physiological and energetic systems, and when practiced without guidance, it can sometimes create confusion or even imbalance.
In her work with clients and participants, she had always shared simple breathing exercises at the end of sessions. But over time, she asked herself: Why not share a method that is structured, safe, and accessible while retaining its depth and transformative power?
This reflection led to the birth of the Shunya Breathe™ Method. By refining the original techniques she had been taught, and keeping the practice within 30 minutes, she created a sequence that supports:
